The Box of ZN implements both sliding top pieces and
a unique "Quagmire Panel" that must be manipulated in
the final steps to open. It takes 27 moves in all to
open this puzzle box. These moves vary, and require the
operator to use logical thinking and imagination to
solve them.
This puzzle box continues the "Quagmire" style of 100% Woodborne construction. The Box of ZN is built of
Keruing and Bubinga of which are both very stable woods
adding longevity to this unique box. Even the inlay is
of solid hardwood Bubinga! These two woods accent one
another very well, creating a warm tone and balance that
adds to the theme of the design. The weight of this
puzzle box is representative of its' solid construction.
The lid uses a "double track" to ensure a strong smooth
movement. The finish is a specially mixed rubbing
lacquer and is completed with beeswax, all done by hand.
The Box of ZN is made with the high Quagmire Puzzle Box
standards of quality. Each box is engraved with the
production serial number and comes with our certificate
of authenticity and instructions. 27 moves to open this puzzle box!

Top view of the Box of ZN
Above shows a top view of the Box of ZN. There is a
trick to "unlocking" the 1st pieces
before being able to move any other parts in the
puzzle procedure. This makes it very difficult
for anyone that is fiddling with the box to
figure out the first step.
(Note the the bowed affect in the picture is caused by the camera -
the box is not actually bowed.)
Above shows the solid hardwood Babinga "Quagmire Panel" with the logo
engraved.
The panel prevents the contents of the box from
being accessed during the procedure of
operating the lid to open. Both the lid and panel must be worked in unison
to remove the panel.
One side of the panel is engraved with the QPB logo
and the other side is not engraved.
Above shows the box opened and the panel removed.
The lid is shown only half way open. The lid is not
removable.
Here is a side view on the box and an end view on
the right.
